Blade interchange btw chassises

Is it poosible to interchange the BL20P G2 to chassis of BL20P G3? Do I need additional hardware to perfrom this action (interchange) or just swap it? thanks

Hi.

The only change between the G2 and G3 BL20p's was for CPU support for newer intel CPU's.

Are you booting from SAN or are you booting from local disks?

It should in all likelihood be OK if you are booting from local disk. Never had much luck booting from SAN so I cannot comment on that.

Hi.

The p-class blade chassis had no intelligence built into it. Any P-series blade will fit into any p-class chassis. As I said the differences between the G2 and G3 would not any difference to the chassis.

The only thing you would need to worry about was is the 4th Ethernet interface on the G3 blades - the G2 only had 3 plus one for the ILO. Internally though the G3 blade used a different chipset to the G2 blade so you may have driver issues with the deployment.
