BladeSystem c7000 Enclosure access problem

Hi!
we have ProLiant BL460c G6 servers on c7000 Enclosure. Everything worked fine, but yestaday we couldn't connect to Onboard Administrator of the enclosure. Servers are critical, that's why we can't stop them.
Please advise something to fix this problem.
Thanks!

Re: BladeSystem c7000 Enclosure access problem

Hi Rufat,

You can check for the settings on the front panel on the enclosure and see if the settings and IP address are correct. You dont have to stop the servers. Are you able to connect to the mp console of the servers?

Re: BladeSystem c7000 Enclosure access problem

Thanks.
We checked settings, everything is right there. We aren't able to connect to the mp console of the servers. With typing https://ipaddress nothing displays on the explorer.

Re: BladeSystem c7000 Enclosure access problem

Two things to understand.

1. communications between your server apps and the main (public) network is through whatever Ethernet Interconnect Modules you are using.

2. Communications with your OA's, IC Modules and iLO's, is through the RJ45 port on the Active OA.

So problems with OA/iLO connectivity will not normally affect your Apps.

Q1. Is the IP displayed in the "Insight Display" correct?
Q2. Can you PING that IP Address.

If the answers to these are Q1 YES, Q2 NO, then I would start by checking the cabling and external network ports.

When you say that you cant connect to OA, what exactly happens?? Hang? Error?

If OA is pingable, did you try a direct SSH or TELNET (if enabled) connection straight to the Active OA CLI???

Re: BladeSystem c7000 Enclosure access problem

I can connect to enclosure by SSH. Entered here admin login and pass. I'm on OA.
Which command can i use here? and what do i have to do to connect to it from web?
Thanks!

Re: BladeSystem c7000 Enclosure access problem

I am not in the office at the moment, and dont have access to my documentation, however if you have the OA CLI user guide, check for the command which shows the types of access which are permitted. Make sure that web access is enabled.

If it is, then at this point, I would probably try failing over the OA. If you dont have the CLI command, then just pull the active OA. This should be non-disruptive (as far as your blades are concerned.).

Re: BladeSystem c7000 Enclosure access problem

Hi Rufat,

The command Dave is referencing is:

ENABLE HTTPS

Try this from the ssh session and let us know if you were able to connect to the Web interface for the OA after.

good luck, if you appreciate the answers we appreciate the points!

Re: BladeSystem c7000 Enclosure access problem

Check your browser requirements,

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00705292/c00705292.pdf

Page 9. (beware IE8)

If this doesn't fix your problem, you should consider cycling your OA's.

Re: BladeSystem c7000 Enclosure access problem

Experiencing same problem. We have three c7000's and only one with issue. HTTPS is enabled (enabling and disabling) and it's not a browser issue as the other two work just fine. No recent changes have been made to firmware. All three exist on 3.00.

It acts like it's making an attempt on https, but then just hangs in IE (same with chrome or firefox).

Will try a cycle to see what happens.
