bladesystem SAN physical connectivity

We have new bladesystem c7000, interconnect bay1 and bay2 are VC1 and VC2, bay3 and bay4 are hp brocade 4gb 8/24 SAN switches. also an external MSA 2000 SAN storage.

I've connect fibre cable from switch to MSA storage, do I need to connect physical fibre cable between brocade switch to VC, or it's done internally via midplane?

You'll need to connect a cable.

What kind of VC modules do you have?

Re: bladesystem SAN physical connectivity

VC1 and VC2 are VC-flexFabric module, port 5-8 are 1/10 gb ethernet connect to nw switch.

should I connect VC1 port 1 to brocade FC switch1 port 19 and VC2 port 1 to switch2 port 19 via fibre? (port 17 and 18 of each FC switch module are connected to MSA storage array)

if so, I assume I will need to add Bay1 Port X1 as Uplink Port when defining SAN Fabrics, but then how to define Server profile for the blades that have HBA? using FC HBA connections or FCoE HBA connection?

Re: bladesystem SAN physical connectivity

FCoE Connections is what you'll use for FlexFabric.  The connections sound fine, I belive you can only use X1-X4 for FC SAN connections.
