BLc7000 SAN switch to MSA 2312 connect directly
Hi,
We have a BLc7000 enclosure and a MSA 2312 Storage. The connectivity is FC. If we use a 24 port FC switch in the enclosure then Is it possible to connect the enclosure to MSA controller directly without any other SAN switch.
Thanks,
M.Hassan

Which 24port FC switch do you have?
The answer will be different depending upon which interconnect you have.

Re: BLc7000 SAN switch to MSA 2312 connect directly
You would typically want to fibre switches in your Blade chassis to provide redundancy. From there, you would be able to connect both of them direct to the MSA, for multipathing.

Re: BLc7000 SAN switch to MSA 2312 connect directly
Is this the 4/24 c-class blade switch you're talking about? If you use a pass-through interconnect in the c-class you would need more fc-switches.
The 4/24 SAN switch probably has 16 internal ports and 8 external ports.
These external ports you can connect to the MSA.
And as Joshua wrote, HP recommends having two SAN switches. But that would indicate that you have two controllers in the MSA2312 as well.
