C 7000 enclosure -DVD drive - BL 860c integrity server

Hi,

C 7000 enclosure and BL 860C integrity server updated with latest firmware. DVD dirve connected to OA is accessible by BL 460c with Windows installed.
But in OA console DVD for BL 860 C is showing as unknown and in image/url "SSH is disabled on this blade's ILO processor". But in the server iLO page its' showing that SSH is enabled.

how make the DVD accessible from OA for BL 860C.

Hopefully what I'm about to say will cause someone else to tell me I am wrong :)

I don't know that the Integrity blades support the chassis DVD yet. That or perhaps to use the chassis DVD the virtual media support has to be enabled on the blade, and I don't think that is enabled by default with the iLO on a BL860c

But vMedia is working fine and *I* would use ignite to install a OS on the blade...

Integrity BL860 Supports Enclosure DVD.
You should have OA version 2.10
What OS are you trying to install?

It should work fine, For integrity you should have a different OS CD.

I am sure you can install IA64-Linux on BL860c, i will update about Windows.

... in case of windows you need the 2k3 ia64 version, x64 won't work.

DVD through OA is working fine with 460c with windows. in bl860c its not happening. also i tried to updated the iLO f/w before installing HP UX but its not happening. After installing HP UX I was able to update thorugh EFI. still the DVD is not accessible through OA for bl860c (HP UX). virtual media is working fine.

one the device overview page on the oa, what does it say about chassis dvd for the bl860?

Some things to keep in mind:
firmware must be always current!
USB is slow!
USB installation can take ~4 hours, Ignite installation takes around 1.5 hours, golden image installation takes around 20min.

If not, some hints:

If there was no DVD drive present during installation, the driver is not loaded/configured into the kernel.

Use SAM or smh to adjust this (USB mass storage driver).
Once this is done, you should be able to see the drive in ioscan.
Depending on the OS, the device file will look different on 11.23 and 11.31.

In what was an unrelated email conversation the topic of using the chassis DVD with an Integrity blade came-up and it was stated one needs to be running MP firmware T.02.17: (or later I presume)

* Added a feature that enables users to connect to iLO-2 MP from Onboard Administrator either by SSH or by HTTPS without requiring to enter any iLO login credentials
