c-Class 460 or 480 with VMware

We are in the beginning of ordering our C-Class servers and I'm getting mixed advice of whether to go with the BL460 or the BL480 when using in a VM envirenment.

Any help would be greatly appeciated.

Both will run VMware with flying colors. Your choice will get down to expandability since VMware likes a lot of memory. If you're going to be on a SAN and want lots of network connectivity, it's a natural 480c choice. See comparison:

Re: c-Class 460 or 480 with VMware

The servers will be connected to an EMC SAN. I've understood that the two magor bottlenecks would be memory and available nic ports. If so, than the 480C would be the natural choice.
would this be correct?
With the # of servers we're planning to pick up I want to make the correct choice.

Check out the VMware sizer at http://www.hp.com/go/vmware. It's a very useful tool based on configuration information and best practices developed in our VMware Solutions Engineering lab. Play with the configurations a bit and see what comes out, preferably with data from your own applications.

Using the sample data and selecting a separate network for Vmotion and desiring redundant production networks, the BL460c doesn't have enough network connectivity, only the BL480c does.
