c3000 incompatible fc-vc module

Hi all,
I have a problem with a c3000 and fc-vc module.
It's just been installed into an existing chassis into slot 2.
It show up as incompatible through the web and cli, all vc-enet modules are running 2.01 firmware and the vc-fc is running 1.10 but i can not update this firmware.
See below using the vcutil it shows as Stale configuration in VCM, how do i clear this?

I have reset the modules, cleared the VC domain back to default but still can not update the firmware, even with the force switch.

Re: c3000 incompatible fc-vc module

The clue here is the message "TCP port 21 currently in use". This means there's another FTP server running on the system you're running the update from. Here are your options:

1. use another system
2. stop the FTP service
3. Use the GUI firmware update

Re: c3000 incompatible fc-vc module

Thanks for the reply Ken,

Yeah sorry scrub the FTP message, I have the Stale configuration in VCM, on both modules.

The chassis has been rebooted and the modules reset several times, i can't update the firmware as it will not allow it.

How can i clear this out?

Cheers

Re: c3000 incompatible fc-vc module

VC manager wants to replicate it's configuration to another VC-Ethernet module in bay 2, but it can't. Try putting the FC module in bay 3 or 4. You'll need to move the Mezzanine cards as well.

If you look at the Quickspecs, you'll see FC is not supported in bay 2.

Re: c3000 incompatible fc-vc module

Ken,

Ah cheers for that, so the problem is that i have 4 port nic mezz cards which means if i place them in the mezz1 slot i will only have access to 2 nics, then the VC-FC into bay 3 will give access to the qlogic hba in mezz2 slot. Bay 4 will be unusable as these are half height blades.
Think they should have purchased another 7000 chassis instead :-(

Re: c3000 incompatible fc-vc module

I'm not sure the statement VC-FC is not supported in bay 2 is correct. I don't see that stated in the referenced URL. The configurations shown are listed as "typically supported configurations" I don't have a c-3000 handy to try, but you might connect stacking link cables between the 3 VC-Enet modules and see if your setup works.

Re: c3000 incompatible fc-vc module

Moved the FC card to bay 3, all working now apart from 2 nics on the mezz card are unusable.
I do agree that the doc only states typical configuration, unfortunatey i dont have the time to test any other configs as this was needed at a site.

Cheers for the help.

Hello.
Did you resolve the "Stale configuration in VCM" -problem?
I'm having the same problem and don't know how to clear the status on two VC-Enet modules.
