c7000 A/B bays?

Good day. I apologize in advance for my bad English.

Im totally new to HP and Im currently reading OA user guide. And I got question about deivce bays 1A, 1B etc. There are 16 bays that can carry 16 half-height/8 full-height single-wide/4 full-height dual-wide blades (dual-wide blades in my case). So what about this numeration is?

I know that there are sides A and B on dual-wide blades, but in EBIPA i just set iLO IPs for bays 2/4/6/8 and got access to iLO of all 4 dual-wide blades. Furthermore there is shown in power sequence settings that blades are placed in 2, 4, 6 and 8 bays, all other bays are subsumed. All double dense side A and double dense side B devices are "absent". So what these A/B ports need for?

The size of such blade server can be very different, from 2 servers in a single half height chassis (e.g.

HP ProLiant BL2x220c) up to 4 full height blades as a single server (e.g. BL860c i4). In first case the system will name them Bay1A or 1B etc.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Sorry, i cant get the logic.

Look at my screenshots.

It looks like there are 16 A ports and 16 B ports, 32 ports in total. But this enclosure can carry max 16 blades.

Yes, max 16 blades, but max. 32 servers, see above.

Re: c7000 A/B bays?

Ah, really there are two server nodes in one blade. But I never faced blades like that, how does it look like? I mean is there 2 iLO for 1 blade or what? Whats the point to divie single bay and make two nominal bays? I guess this doesnt affect interconnect port mapping somehow. Was it made for user rights delegating and power sequence setting purposes only? For example if I want to give operator rigths to user only for one server node in the 2node-blade?

Me too, but there are several models, 2 servers in a single chassis, IMHO both with ILO. You will see this in Enclosure Bay IP Addressin section of OA. They have a single NIC only, so each server goes to a single interconnect port. Really not HA, but a high server density per enclosure.

Hope this helps!

Re: c7000 A/B bays?

Thanks a lot. Now this thing about A/B bays is pretty clear for me.

Re: c7000 A/B bays?

I have faced the 2x220's.

It's 2 seperate servers in 1 chassis.

2 system I/O boards, each with ILo and internal HDD'.

They got seperate serial numbers and product numbers

A and B side is not the same prosuct number, nor same spare number on the system I/O board.

There's 2 sets of power button's, Status LED's and SUV(?) cables.

Adn seem, there's 2 embedded NIC's on both system I/O BD's.
