We have an c7000 bladesystem with an GbE2c Layer 2/3 Ethernet Blade Switch in the bays 1-2 and 5-6 and an HP B-series 8/12c SAN Switch in the bay 3 and 4. What we want to do is to configure a serial access for emergency cases via the Onboard Administration serial connection.
For the two SAN switches the "connect interconnect" command works as expected but when we try to connect to the GbE2c switches we receive the error "Serial connection is not supported".
Does someone have an idea why this error occurs?
What we noticed is that by using the command "show interconnect info" the GbE2c switches showing up with the following properties:
Internal Serial Interface to OA: Absent
Internal Serial Route to OA: Disabled
However for the SAN switches the internal serial interfaces seems to be present:
Internal Serial Interface to OA: Present
Internal Serial Route to OA: Enabled
Serial Port Baud Rate: 9600
Is the Internal Serial Interface something that could be activated or do the GbE2c switches just doen't have this function?
Regards,
Matthias

Re: connect interconnect from OA - Serial connection is not supported.
AFAIR these modules don't support these connections.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: connect interconnect from OA - Serial connection is not supported.
Hi Torsten,
thank you for the fast respond. That's exactly the answer I didn't wanted to hear.
Do you have any link to HP documents which describes this fact?
Thank you

SolutionSee the
HP GbE2c Ethernet Blade Switch for c-Class BladeSystem Command Reference Guide
and
HP GbE2c Ethernet Blade Switch for c-Class BladeSystem User Guide
...
The switch is accessed remotely using the Ethernet ports or locally using the DB-9 management serial port.
...
Unfortunately they never write in any docs what is *not* supported.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
