Does procurve switch downgrades to 1G when using flexNIC?

Does procurve switch downgrades 10G downlink to 1G when using a flexNIC?

Re: Does procurve switch downgrades to 1G when using flexNIC?

Are you referring to the HP Procurve 6120 LAN switch?

As far as I can tell, no. I have a BL280c with a 522 card.. it connects at 10GB.

Yes, That is the one I am referring to.

As stated... I have a BL280c server wit ha NC522m care in it. The network connections link up at 10G/bs.

Re: Does procurve switch downgrades to 1G when using flexNIC?

Direct from the website...

"The NC522m also supports full 10GbE connections when used with the ProCurve 6120XG or other 10Gb interconnect modules."

"The NC532m works as a standard dual port 10GbE NIC when connected to non Virtual Connect devices such as the ProCurve 6120XG"

So the question is... are you talking about the onboard Flex-10 nics? or add-in mezz cards?

Which server model do you have?

Which NIC model?

Re: Does procurve switch downgrades to 1G when using flexNIC?

Somewhere I read that the procurve downlink speed degrades to 1G when using FlexNICs but I cannot find that text now! I do not want to partition those NICs! I mean both mezzanine cards and Flex NICS. Servers are BL460c G6.

Re: Does procurve switch downgrades to 1G when using flexNIC?

I herewith sent you a snapshot of the port status!
port 7 is connected to a 10G port of nc522m mezzanine card and is in the same vlan of uplink #18. As you can see, the uplink is 10G but the downlink is 1G!

Re: Does procurve switch downgrades to 1G when using flexNIC?

What is the Operating System reporting?

What are the nic settings in the OS? (port speed/duplex)

Updated Drivers in the OS?

What OS?

Re: Does procurve switch downgrades to 1G when using flexNIC?

I don't think it is a matter of OS! The Switch console reports the state of its down-link! However, the OS is Ubuntu 10.04 and the port status of the mezzanine card works well with Virtual Connect Flex-10!
