Find Blade on OnBoard Administrator

Find Blade on OnBoard Administrator

I know there must be someway to find a particular blade using HP's Onboard Administrator without having to go chassis by chassis and slot by slot - but I can't find it. Ideas?

Re: Find Blade on OnBoard Administrator

HP SIM maintains blade/enclosure associations across multiple enclosures.

So there is no way to browse to the blade chassis with HP Onboard Administrator and sear for a server name? You have to go to each chassis and open up device bays and look for your server?

Re: Find Blade on OnBoard Administrator

As david says... its called SIM. It goes and gets the database from the OAs and creates a single database.

If you have multiple blade enclosures you really ought to have SIM/VCRM installed anyway to gain the ease of management.

Hi Guido,

The previous posters are correct when they suggest using SIM. It is really the best way to achieve what you are trying to do.

However if you have OA firmware version 2.40 or later you can also telnet to the OA and run:
SHOW SERVER NAMES ALL
to get a list of all servers in that enclosure.

Good luck!
