I was wondering if anyone has installed 8x4GB of memory in a BL20p G4. The attached Quickspecs have some discrepancies in it.
In the At a Glance and Standard Features section it states that 32GB is supported. However in the Memory section, although there is a SKU for the 2x4GB kit, the maximum stated there is 16GB, and there is a note stating the server can only support 8 ranks of memory.
Are the 4GB modules dual-rank? Can this server actually support 8x4GB?
Any information would be appreaciated.

Hi Chris,
QuickSpec tends to be incoherent & contradict itself in few places.
I am using HP Sales Builder to validate configs & according to this tool you are fine to populate the BL20p G4 (I've checked [243564-B22] with E5345 ) with four 8GB kits ([397415-B21] HP 8GB FBD PC2-5300 2x4GB Kit).
And the comment says that 4GB modules are dual rank.
Rgds.

Re: Has anyone installed 32GB of memory in a BL20p G4?
This server contains 8 DIMM slots. The server memory can be expanded by installing supported Registered DDR-2 FBDIMMs
Memory:
Type
PC2-5300 Fully Buffered DIMMs DDR2-667 (running at 533MHz on processors with 1066 MHz FSB)
Standard:
1024 MB or 2048 MB (Depending on model)
Maximum:
32 GB (8 x 4 GB)
