HP c7000 blade enclosure fans

Hello,

My customer has three blade enclosures in one rack in a temperature controlled data center.  The bottom enclosure's fans are running twice as fast as the other two.  72%-85% for enclosure in question.  Others in same rack running at 31%-52%.

There are 14 BL 460c G10 blades. The empty two bays have caps for proper air flow.  All of them are running the same firmware, not necessarily the newest.  (Customer is  resistant to upgrading firmware unless absolutely needed.  Always tells me that every other server or enclosure is running fine without a firmware upgrade).

Any help appreciated.

Hello,

Update:

Created case with HP.  They recommended running an OA show all report and submitting to tech support.  They would then be able to pinpoint server or compnent problem.

Re: HP c7000 blade enclosure fans

Hello,

Generate OA SHOWALL report from working enclosure and enclosure in question.

Compare SHOW ENCLOSURE TEMP from both OA SHOWALL report.  This will help you to identify which device causing the issue.

Example :

>SHOW ENCLOSURE TEMP

---------------------- ----- ----------- -------- ------- --------
Enclosure N/A 18C/ 64F --- ---
Onboard Administrator 1 OK 29C/ 84F 75C 80C
Onboard Administrator 2 OK 29C/ 84F 75C 80C
Blade Bay 1 N/A 15C/ 59F 42C 46C
Blade Bay 2 N/A 16C/ 60F 42C 46C

Blade Bay 11 N/A 16C/ 60F 42C 46C
Blade Bay 12 N/A 17C/ 62F 42C 46C
Blade Bay 13 N/A 17C/ 62F 42C 46C
Blade Bay 14 N/A 16C/ 60F 42C 46C
