iLO Automatic Logins From c-7000 Onboard Administrator Failing

Has anyone seen a problem where automatic logins to iLOs from an Onboard Administrator in a c-7000 enclosure fail but direct connections work fine?

When you select the Integrated Remote Console from the OA, a new browser window opens, you momentarily see the iLO login screen, the screen goes black and times out. Connecting directly to the iLO using a browser works just fine but you have to have an ID and log in manually. The laptop we are connecting from is connected to the same Ethernet switch as the OA is and all the static addresses appear to be set correctly. The firmware in the OA is 2.10 and 1.43 on most of the server iLO's. One server was added recently with 1.61 on its iLO. This worked fine in the past at this site (for sure before the new server was added) and still does at several others.

It appears that the redirection is working since there is a "New User: OA 1234567890" in the iLO log but no "Browser Login: OA 1234567890" log message follows it.

Thanks in advance.

It probably isn't a satisfying answer but you should consider upgrading this firmware. The revisions you have are over a year old. Here are some identified fixes in newer versions of the iLO firmware:

ver 1.60
Fixed an issue that would cause the user to receive an error message when opening multiple IRC sessions from the OA.

Fixed an issue that caused iLO2 to stop responding after an OA failover.

and maybe more applicable to you:
ver 1.70
Improved several communication paths that cause blades to lose communication with the Onboard Administrator, resulting in a "red X" presented in the OA

You may also want to flush all of the "OA ..." users from the iLO local users page. If you have too many of these created, iLO will prevent logins -- and each time you connect via OA a new "OA" account is built.

Good luck!

I agree, definately get your ILO's all up to 1.70 and then right after upgrade the OAs to 2.41. Lots of problems should be fixed.

Keep in mind as well that upgrading the OA firmware to 2.41 does require that the server ROM firmware is updated as well (11/08 or newer.)

Re: iLO Automatic Logins From c-7000 Onboard Administrator Failing

Where can I find information about the requirements for installing OA version 2.41. The release notes only say to upgrade the iLOs to 1.7 and mention nothing of the server ROMs.

Thanks.

This page has it for OA 2.32
OA 2.41 has the same pre-reqs unless the release docs mention otherwise...which I dont think they do.

Hi James,

you may try reseating the OA and also the sleeve where the OA is installed since this seems to be a communcation issue.

Have you tried multiple browsers Mozilla or IE also clear cache and try.

All d best !
