Infiniband Blade switches

Hi,

I'm looking to buy some 40Gbe QDR infiniband switches, just trying to find out the main differences with the two below switches:

489184-B21: HP BLc 4X QDR IB Switch for HP BladeSystem c-Class

505958-B21 QLogic BLc 4X QDR IB Switch for HP BladeSystem c-Class

http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/blades/components/infiniband/specifications.html

Also do both these switches work in the gen1 c7000 chassis ?

As prod currently has Gen2 Chassis but our lab were these will be tested is a G1 c7000 chassis

Regards, Daniel

Re: Infiniband Blade switches

Hello@drolfe

The link you added to your post if you look at the overview you will notice the part number is different than the ones you are asking about.  That part number that is on that page you provided is (648311-B21).

The HP 4X QDR InfiniBand Switch Module for Blade System c-Class (489184-B21) has four connector bays and one I2C Port (inter-integrated circuit port).  The HP QLogic BLc 4X QDR IB Switch for BladeSystem c-Class (505958-B21) has just the four connector bays without the I2C port.

Please view the manual of the other specifications for the HP 4X QDR InfiniBand Switch Module for Blade System c-Class (489184-B21), you can also view the manual of other specifications for the HP QLogic BLc 4X QDR IB Switch for BladeSystem c-Class (505958-B21)

Both of the HP Switch modules you are asking about are compatible with the HP BladeSystems C7000 Enclosures.

If you have more questions on HP Switch modules, please reach out to me and I would be happy to connect you to an HP Server specialist.
