iSCSI config probs w/ BL460C G6 and a MSA2000
BLC7000 CTO enclosure
BL460C G6 blades
BLC BNT 1GBE2 Switches (installed in back of C7000)
2012L DC MSA
The blades are running Windows Server 2008
I've been able to format the array, configure drives and attach via iSCSI, then read and write from the MSA drive without issue.
The problem arises when I try to hit the internet from the blade. I cannot connect out of the blade... I can't browse a website, for example.
If I disable the NIC that is configured for the iSCSI traffic - outbound connectivity works just fine.
A HP certified engineer assisted w/ config of the chassis, blades, and MSA. He can't seem to find the issue.
The nic for the iSCSI is on the blade - it has an IP on a sep network than the outbound traffic. 10.0.200.x - This nic has no "gateway" info in the definition (at the direction of the HP certified engineer - he said this would prevent outbound traffic to the internet from routing via this nic)
Nic for connectivity out via our internal network is on 10.0.0.x w/ proper gateway info.
A few questions:
In info about the Accelerated iSCSI adapters, it looks like the BL460C G6 is supported, should I buy this Pack - or perhaps - do I *need* this pack for things to configure properly?
If the accelerator pack is not required - what do I need to do to get my configuration working.
Thanks in advance!

Re: iSCSI config probs w/ BL460C G6 and a MSA2000
your adapters have /24 masks? If not, they overlap.
I agree that a default gateway on the iSCSI NIC would cause problems... you don't have any static Routes configured do you?
Take a look at the output of a "route print" from the box and see if you can figure out what's going on.
Maybe if you paste an ipconfig and route print here, we can help.
Can you ping the DNS server when the iSCSI NIC is enabled?
Accelerated iSCSI is not required for your config to work...

Re: iSCSI config probs w/ BL460C G6 and a MSA2000
Thanks for the response - yes - both NICs are running ips w/ /24, so there is no overlap, but your tip to check the ipconfig /all showed that what was displaying in the details via the nic properties was not what what the system had loaded for the nic. Even though there was no gateway showing in the properties for ipv4, the system had a gateway in place for the nic I am using for iSCSI.
With that removed, I now have connectivity out to the internet when that nic is enabled, but the box will no longer respond to any network traffic over the LAN.
In doing some research, it seems that multi nic configs are having issues with Windows Server 2008. Configs that worked fine under Server 2003 are having problems routing traffic in 2008. From what I've read, it appears the "strong/weak" network config defaulting to "strong" with disabled weak sends and received has caused part of the problem. I've applied the netsh commands to allow weak sends and receives - no joy.
There was some discussion on another thread I found about ipv6 perhaps complicating the schema for Win 2008, so I've disabled ipv6 on all the interface - again - no joy.
I've run Microsoft's network monitor 3.3 and can see thetraffic hit the machine (a persistent ping, as an example) but other than seeing "ICMP: Echo Request Message, from 10.0.0.179 To 10.0.0.20" there is no other tracing of the packets, they just get binned.
The iSCSI nic is the onboard 10GbE NC532i Multifunction BL-c Adapter, the LAN connection is on a mez card NC326m PCIe Dual Port Adapter.
Below I'll list an ipconfig /all and a route print from the machine when both NICs are enabled.
I'm trying to figure out why any traffic from the network hits the machine and then gets binned. Is there some sort of cross connect going on in the fabric of the midplane? Something else I'm missing?
Looking for some assistance from a fresh set of eyes...
Thanks in advance!
