May i Connect two NC522?

I Have a question concerning the card NC522.
Is there any way i connect one server to another without using a switch?
I mean, like a crossover cable in the 10/100 lan.
Will this Work?

Connecting two 10Gbit/s Ethernet NICs "back to back" (aka without a switch) will work.

Re: May i Connect two NC522?

Keeping in mind that I am only talking about what is likely to "work" and not necessarily about what is "supported" (since the original question was "work").

It depends on how far apart from one another the two NICs will be. If they are close enough that the supported DACs will reach then you can use DACs. If the two systems are farther apart than DACs can reach you would get the supported optical transceivers and a suitable length of optical cable and use those. The DACs and optical transceivers supported by the NC522 should be listed in its quickspecs.

My personal preference is to use optical transceivers - in that way if the systems need to move farther apart from one another, you don't have to worry about exceeding the limits for DACs. They do though cost rather more.
