No Alarm on fan failure

No Alarm on fan failure

We have been doing some alarm testing and noticed that we dont get an error on removal of a single fan.

We get an error if we remove a second fan.

Is the system aware that the fan has been removed and not "failed"?

Ideally we want to be made aware of any item removal or failure (even if the current situation is not impacting perfromance etc) so we can resolve the problem straight away.

Hi,
What is the server (or device) model number which you are referring to?

Onboard Administrator able to alert you for the same.""AlertMail enables users to receive system events by e-mail instead of using SNMP traps. AlertMail is
completely independent from SNMP, and both can be enabled at the same time. AlertMail uses standard SMTP commands to communicate with an SMTP-capable mail server.""

Following are the Fan alerts can be sent by OA:

Fan status change
Fan inserted
Fan removed

Refer the "HP BladeSystem Onboard Administrator User Guide"

For more information and for detailed steps Refer page number 86 for "Configuring the HP BladeSystem c7000 enclosure and enclosure devices" and refer the "AlertMail" from the page number 92.

Hope the above information helpful.
