Proliant BL 20P G4 auto power up

While testing the virtualization of our Windows 2003 Active Directory environment, I power down 3 of our 8 blades. These are essentially different tiers in a 3 tier application with the 1st blade being Terminal Services and the 3rd blade being MS SQL 2005 server. After a few minutes, 2 of the blades automatically start up again. I have automatic power on set to No in ILO2. I am trying to test a virtualized image of the real machine that keeps powering on by itself. Annoying. What is/could be causing the power up and how do I turn that functionality off.

You can try disabling Wake on LAN as well

Re: Proliant BL 20P G4 auto power up

Hi jerry,

If power is unexpectedly lost while the server is on, the server will always turn back on, even if Automatically Power On Server is set to No.

Re: Proliant BL 20P G4 auto power up

When I said "powerdown", I should have said "do a normal Windows shutdown", which does power down the blade as expected. Just wanted to be clear about how I turned off the blade.
