ProLiant BL460c and BL860c NIC down

Hi everyone,

I have two BL460c blades with O.S. Linux redhat 4.6, and two BL860c blades with O.S. OpenVMS IA64 Version V8.3-1H1
in a c7000 Enclosure.

the IPs for every NIC in the BL460c and BL860c blades were assigned manually.

But all network ports in the switch cisco3020 are down (notconnect)
In the Port Mapping I can see connected all Blade.

I have other three BL860c blades with OpenVMS IA64 Version V8.3-1H1 in the enclosure working withoout problem

Are necessary some commands to activate this ports in the switch 3020 or in OA?

Re: ProLiant BL460c and BL860c NIC down

It will help if you say which NICs are down and which switch position you are speak of.

But if some NICs on existing servers are going thru this switch and working and others are not.... I'd assume the ports are not enabled in the Cisco.

Re: ProLiant BL460c and BL860c NIC down

Can you check the logs of the cisco switch? Are the switch interfaces in err-disabled state? What is the IOS version of your swith?

You can try the following commands on the switch console:

show interfaces status err-disabled
show version
show logging

Re: ProLiant BL460c and BL860c NIC down

HI Lmm,

I don't have interfaces status err-disabled
BSVEVT11#show interfaces status err-disabled

BSVEVT11#

Cisco IOS Software, CBS30X0 Software (CBS30X0-IPBASEK9-M), Version 12.2(44)SE1, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

in the logs I not find anything unusual

Re: ProLiant BL460c and BL860c NIC down

Interfaces are enabled by default on the switch, can you attach the running config of the switch, from console, sh run

Re: ProLiant BL460c and BL860c NIC down

Interfaces configuration looks ok, interfaces are enabled, how do you know interfaces are down? Can you get the output of the sh interfaces?. I├В┬┤d recommend to open a case with Blades Support, that will be faster.
