Rapid Deployment can't locate Blades

I got C7000 with 12 BL460c servers. I set up the blades without any OS. After that I've installed RAPID deployment pack on my DL385 server, nstallation went OK. But when I look in to RDP console, I cannot find any server or physical device. I tried to add using new computer but no avail.

Any help will be highly appreciated.

Re: Rapid Deployment can't locate Blades

Assuming that ALL pre-requisites are met, Try restarting those blades.

Re: Rapid Deployment can't locate Blades

1: Check to see that all the Altiris services are running.
2: Check to make sure your DHCP server has option 66 enabled and set to PXEClient and has room in its DHCP pool for more nodes
3: ILO into one of the blade servers, boot it, and hit F12 when prompted to force it to PXE boot and see what happens.

If your server does not get anywhere when you hit F12 and PXE boot something is wrong with #1 or #2.

Best of luck!

Re: Rapid Deployment can't locate Blades

I have started all blades and enclosure several time.

1. All Altris services are running.
2. DHCP server is configured (DHCP is running on seperate server other than server running RDP)
3. All the Servers (10 of them) keep trying to get boot from PXE and than reboot.

Just to add, HP Insight manager sees all the blades and enclosure. Its ony RDP that does not see the Blades.

Re: Rapid Deployment can't locate Blades

Do you have filters on your LAN activated?
Is there a firewall between your DL385 and your enclousure? Or even, your windows firewall is activated? If yes, try disabling it.

Other important thing is: RDP only run on 32-bits systems.

RDP servers must reach the enclousure with full layer-2 and 3 access.

Hope this helps u.

Re: Rapid Deployment can't locate Blades

Since you stated your servers get to the part where they attempt to boot to PXE but fail a few things could be at work here.

1: DHCP isn't broadcasting in the network your blade switches are working in.
2: DHCP isn't configured with the appropriate PXE option.
3: The PXE server is not servicing PXE requests

I've run into some odd problems where #3 ended up being the culprit. Take a look at your PXE manager and try adjusting some options and see if you can get it working.

Best of luck!

Re: Rapid Deployment can't locate Blades

IT was DHCP problem, I configured DHCP and re-install RD, and it worked.

Thanks Everyone!

Configure DHCP and re-install Rapid deployment.
