Re: rename a lame
Rename what a blade is called under 'device bay' in the OA?
This you rename by going into BIOS of the server.
I believe it's called 'Asset Text' or something like that and in there you'll find the server name.

Re: rename a lame
In our OA 2.60 you had to do it in the server BIOS.
Unless maybe there is a way to edit BIOS from when the server is running. Looked in ILO?
In the OA CLI guide I could not find a command to set the name of a server. There is only 'SHOW SERVER NAMES'.

SolutionHi,
It is fairly simple...
In the OA console go to the ILO section of the concerned blade.
Click on Web Administration.
The ILO pages open...
There click on Server Name and in the next page you can change the displayed server name...

Bart

Re: rename a lame
There's no way, AFAIK, of renaming a blade from the OA. If you install Proliant Support Pack on the blade, the name in OA will be the hostname. Another option, as others said, is to fill out one or more Server Text lines on BIOS.

Re: rename a lame
You're welcome. Know that this is indeed overwritten when an operating system is installed... Then the OS name will be filled in.... But it can be changed afterwards again if wanted...
Just doublechecked it, it is the case on both ILO 2 and ILO3...
Kr,
Bart
