too much noise from c7000 enclosure

hi,

we have c7000 enclosure populated with 16 nos of bl460c blade servers. only servers on bay 1,2,9,10 & 11 is powered on. but the noise is too much and fans are running fast.updated with latest 3.10 oa firmware, still same issue.

can somebody give a solution for this.

Which ILO FW do you have on the BL460 servers?

If you have older than 1.81, UPGRADE IMMEDIATELY!
There's a bug in older versions that will cause the OA to misread the temperature and increase the fan-speed to 79% on all fans.

You may need to reset the OA or power-cycle the c7000 afterwards...

Some possible other reasons:

failed blade
failed fan
failed power supply
room too hot

Those errors will all give red indicators in the OA web management page.

The problem with old FW will NOT give any red indicators.
Trust me on this...

You are right ... IIRC this is written in the iLO firmware notes somewhere.
