Folks,
Can anyone here please assist me in performing the firmware update on the following components:
BladeSystem c7000 DDR2 Onboard Administrator with KVM
Firmware Version 3.71 Dec 07 2012
with the HP SPP 2014.09 ISO file through the OnBoard admin page ?
I got 2x OA KVM Blades set as active and passive but don't know where to start to avoid unwanted production server outage or inaccessible Blade infrastructure during the firmware upgrade.
Thanks in advance.

SolutionGreetings!
You can upgrade the OA while the servers are running, it is a non-disruptive update. Unless you are multiple revisions back it should work without issue.
Complete information is available on the OnBoard Administrator User Guide below:

Re: Updating c7000 firmware with HP SPP .ISO remotely ?
Hi Renji,
My OA is version 3.71 so is that still considered safe to perform online firmware upgrade during the business hours ?
my concerns is that there is no rollback plan for this critical production system and I do not have spare enclosure to test it on.

Albert,
OA (Onboard Administrator) you can upgrade and does not require downtime. Only OA will be unavailable for few seconds once the OA reboot after the upgrade.

Re: Updating c7000 firmware with HP SPP .ISO remotely ?
Cool, what I'm worried is that somehow during the firmware update it can cause an outage to the current working servers or configuration loss.
if it is not, then I probably mixed up with the Virtual Connect firmware update.

Re: Updating c7000 firmware with HP SPP .ISO remotely ?
Hello Albert,
Yes, updating OA formware does not need a downtime fo the Server. After the firmware of OA is updrgraded, only for few seconds OA will be unavailable till it restarts.
