Viewing SAN devices at the EFI level.

Is it possible to view presented SAN devices from the EFI utility??

I would like to be able to see whether my devices are visible, before allowing a server to boot.

I have been looking through the command list in the CM menu, and I don't see anything obvious.

Dave.

Re: Viewing SAN devices at the EFI level.

Hi Brit,

this is possible, but complicated.
Note that the MPs CM> menue is not the EFI shell.
To enter EFI shell, you have to go to the console ("co" on MP main menu) and reboot the system. At the boot options menue, choose "EFI Shell".

Then follow the instructions on
http://docs.hp.com/en/AB587-96012/ch05s06.html

A problem is that these fibre channel scanning in EFI takes a very long time. For this reason, the SAN is not scanned by default, only devices with boot options are displayed by default.

best regards

Stefan

Re: Viewing SAN devices at the EFI level.

Stefan's answer, although is appears to apply to an earlier version of EFI, is substantially correct. The "drvcfg" command produces different output, and the SAN scan is controlled by the parameter EFISCANLEVEL (=0 for boot devices only, =1 for all SAN devices (can take a long time))
