Virtual Connect Monitoring

Is it possible to monitor the performance of the Ethernet or Fiber Channel VCs? I would like to monitor counters such as throughput, response time, queue length, I/O, etc... I have installed HPIM but do not see that type of information anywhere.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Virtual Connect Monitoring

Hi,

You can't monitor these at enclosure / HPIM level.

Thanks

Buy Cisco 3020's...you don't have to worry about firmware update dependencies. IOS versions are far more stable and smoother to upgrade

Re: Virtual Connect Monitoring

Ok, let me ask a more direct question then. Is is possible at any level with any software to monitor these type of counters?

And as for the Cisco response, not really helpful since I dont have them and the question only asked about the VCs.

Re: Virtual Connect Monitoring

starting on page 181 of the user guide it describes the MIBs that are supported in VC:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00865618/c00865618.pdf?jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

If you have an SNMP Manager that can poll those MIBs you should be able to get the info you need.

For example, the IF-MIB:

Re: Virtual Connect Monitoring

Thanks. I was hoping that HP had a pre-packaged component that could do this, but this is better than nothing.
