Why in each Blade there are many eth / em ?

I am new in Blade system. I little bit confuse when handle it. I have 1 enclosure with 3 blade. For each blade i installed ubuntu server. I little bit confuse when I found that in ubuntu there are about 4 eth / em that detected. Where they come from and what is its function ? I try to edit IP Address in one of eth, but there is no effect.

Do you have Virtual Connect modules installed? Is VC configured already?

Hope this helps!

The Virtual Connect modules have a separate management interface besides the Onboard Administrator interface from the enclosure itself.

You can find the link to the VCM Virtual COnnect Manager normally in the left menu from the OA interface at the bottom.

It is actually the IP address of the VC module, which you can find in the EBIPA IP addresses from the enclosure...

Bart

Re: Why in each Blade there are many eth / em ?

Oh, I see. Thanks Bart for your explanation.

But, I still wonder, why my Virtual Connect Manager cannot opened. Let me tell my configuration.

On Enclosure Info,
my Active OA address is 10.252.37.10 and
my service IP addresss is 169.254.1.230.

When I want to config my OA Board, I connect my laptop to Enclosure link-up/service port then set my laptop IP to the same network to service IP (169.254.1.xxx) but, I can not open Virtual Connect Manager.

Then, if I want to open Virtual Connect Manager, I should move to connect my laptop to OA iLo Link port then set my laptop IP to the same network to OA Address (10.252.37.xxx).

I still configure my server until this step. But, Is it true ? I wonder, should I move to other port just for open VCM ?

Re: Why in each Blade there are many eth / em ?

The service port is a different network.
Without setting a route this won't work.

Hope this helps!

Is it true using EBIPA ?
Or another way ?
