BL685c G7 - system power led flashing green

Hi everyone, 

 

i have a blade server BL685c G7 with the system power led flashing green. Consulting the user guide, i've learned that it means that the blade is requesting more power.

 

What can i do? resetting the blade is enough? The other blades are fine, and the insight display is clear from alarms.

Same with the onboard admin, no alarms.

i'm still experiencing the issue, anyone knows how to troubleshoot this?

 

the system power led is still flashing.

Are the firmware levels the same on the servers including the iLO?  Any chance you can update the firmware on the OA?

Have you looked at the power and thermal settings in the Onboard Administrator? Check under the Power and Thermal and then click on Enclosure Power Summary.

 

Is there a power cap or power limit set?

How much power is shown as available?

Is any one server using an abnormal amount of power?

 

If you look under Power Management, what are the settings? AC Redundent, Power Supply Redundent, or Not Redundent. 

Do you have all 6 power supplies installed?

 

There are many options and variables that can be manipulated for power

It seems that is everything fine, no other blades are using too much power.

We never upgrade the firmware, unless something is wrong. if it works we don't upgrade.

 

I cannot understand why this blade power led is still flashing.

I remember in the past a bad ilo version made the same trouble, because it reported too much power consumption.

What ILO / OA versions do you have?

The power looks fine. You didn't show what other blades are in the enclosure. Are they G7 or are they older systems? Many of the newer blades including G7 and Gen8 require OA firmware upgrades.

All the blades are ProLiant BL685c G7. 

2 Enclosures with 5 blades each. The Enclosure Superior, bay 2, is the one with the faulty? blade.

You need to update your firmware, it isn't optional in the blade environment; this should be done at a minimum once a year.  Start with the servers, update their iLO and the chassis OA at the same time or one right after the other, if you have VC do that last.  You should update to something within the last year.  I am running 3.60 w/o any issues.
