Does anyone know if memory Hp Part no. AB567AX (8Gb 2RX4 PC2-5300P-555-13-K0 can be added to a BL860c blade?

BL860c or BL860c i2 or BL860c i4?
The quickspecs of these servers should tell you.
Google "BL860c quickspec" for example.

I see a max of 12 x 4GB. Is this because the specs were written 10yrs ago? If I try the memory, will it damage the blade?

Since I found this kit is listed for the very similar systems rx3600, rx2660, BL870c and rx6600 I would assume it works.
Try http://partsurfer.hp.com and write the system serial number in the search field.
Get for example the BL870c user service guide and compare.
