Proliant DL, ML and Blade servers cache batteries

Hello All,

I find that cache batteries are my customers biggest maintence issue on Proliant blades, dl and ml servers.  I have some administrators insist that we swap the cache memory module out also.  I find that it is unnecessary service, since the battery is the culprit 99% of the time.

What is everybody elses take on this issue?

Re: Proliant DL, ML and Blade servers cache batteries

Depending on the model the controller has either a battery or a super-cap. Some models have the cache modul integrated, so it is not a separate part. There is no reason to replace the cache or even the controller if a battery / cap has failed, unless the cache module is failed too.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
