3Com/H3C DAC and Virtual Connect-Flex10 connectivity
Yee was looking to get advice on which DAC cables to use:
***************************
Hi all,
Can I know if the 3COM DAC will work with Flex10?
Can’t seem to find any matrix table except for Procurve ones…
*****************************
Richard chimed in:
*****************************
This cable is not listed in the Quick Specs for the flex-10 module (http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/13127_na/13127_na.html) but there is a note that says:
NOTE: In addition to the supported HP and non-HP Copper Twinax and Active Copper SFP+ cables above, Virtual Connect provides "allowed" connections using third party cables that meet the following criteria: connector=copper pigtail; transceiver code=active cable or passive cable; speed >10Gb; length between 1m and 7m, inclusive. All "allowed" DACs are connected and logged. Prior to requesting support from HP, a DAC from the supported list above must be used to verify a cable issue is not involved.
Hope that helps

Hiro also had some actual experience:

Hi Yee,
Do you mean H3C DAC cable?
We recently tested in Japan to connect VC Flex-10 and A5820 using H3C DAC cable and it did not link up...
VC firmware is 3.15.

Any other input or comments?

Re: 3Com/H3C DAC and Virtual Connect-Flex10 connectivity
So then Yee asked if the oposite was true:
**********************
So is the reverse true? An ISS DAC will also not work on a 3Com switch?
**********************
Hiro replied:

Hi Yee,
In our Proof-of-Concept (PoC), it seems no problem to use ISS DAC although A5820 output warning ” The transceiver is UNKNOWN..”.
