Broadcom NC532i LOM and NC532m adapater used on G6 blades has a new driver

Umesh was having VMware issues:

*******************

All of a sudden, one of the ESX server lost network connectivity . I could not get much information after analyzing  the VMkernel/VMkwarning/hostd.log files. Environment details are given below.

Blade Model:-bl 460c g6

System BIOS:- I24 05/20/2010

Ilo2 fw:- 1.82 Mar 31 2010

OS:- VMware ESX 4.0.0 build-261974

driver: bnx2x

version: 1.52.12.v40.3

firmware-version: bc 5.2.7 phy baa0:0105

bus-info: 0000:02:00.0

HP VC Flex-10 Enet Module Version:-3.17

Lawrence had some latest info:

The issues with the ESXi network disconnect is unlikely to do with HP’s VC firmware, but most likely to do with the VMware driver.

You may not be aware of it but that support advisory document in the link that you provided below (c02476622) has just been updated yesterday.

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c02476622&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

This updated document now mentions a newer driver .

*********************

The driver has fixed some NIC issues related to the DCC  and Smartlink.

SCOPE

Any ProLiant and Integrity server blade with Virtual Connect Version 2.30 (or later) and configured with the NC532m or NC532i adapter firmware version 2.2.6. after installing VMware ESX/ESXi 4.1 with the Broadcom bnx2x VMware ESX Driver Versions 1.54.

RESOLUTION

The VMware ESX/ESXi 4.1 Driver CD for Broadcom NetXtreme II Network/iSCSI Driver Version 1.62 (or later) addresses support for DCC and SmartLink capabilities in Virtual Connect on ProLiant server blades. However, the latest recommendation is to use Version 1.70.34.v50.1 (or later), which is available on the VMware website:

Hope this helps. Comments or questions?
