Connecting Virtual Connect to Catalyst 6509 at 10GB

Mike had an SFP+ question

I have a customer trying to connect VC Flex 10 with SFP+ to a Cisco Catalyst 6509 at 10GB.  The Cisco has a CISCO ORIGNAL X2-10GB-LX4 interface and they are using a multimode LC – SC fiber cable.  Is this a valid configuration?  So far he has not been able to establish a link and is looking for help.

No. Virtual Connect does not support any 10GBASE-LX4 transceiver. Your customer will have to replace the transceiver on their Catalyst with one we can talk to, -SR, -LR or –LRM
