Emulex LPe1205-HP 8Gb Fibre Channel HBA for HP c-Class BladeSystem question
Nabil needed some SAN clarification.
*****************
The quick specs of the Emulex LPe1205-HP 8Gb FC HBA for HP c-Class BladeSystem mentioned that it is Fully compatible with Virtual Connect , does that include the Virtual Connect FlexFabric module? How does the FlexFabric module deal with such adapter? What is the expected Bandwidth allocation for each server?

Steve and Vincent responded:

Steve:
No this Host Bus Adapter (HBA) must connect to a Fibre Channel switch or module. The Virtual Connect FlexFabric module is an etherent device. You could install this in a server that is using FlexFabric modules in bays 1 and 2, however this card would still need VC-Fibre Channel modules, or a SAN switch in the appropriate IO bays.
Vincent:
You get 10Gb out of each FlexFabric adapter port, you split this 10Gb anyway you want between the storage (FCoE or iSCSI) connection and the 3 FlexNIC connections. You can indeed set the FCoE connection to 8Gb if you want, leaving only 2Gb for the Ethernet functions.
