LLDP to get prrper info from Virtual Connect module ?
Frauke had a customer question:
*****************
My customer wants to use LLDP from his Nexus switch to get information from the VC module.
Some time ago I had a similar request and by that time it was “not supported”.
Does anybody know whether this is “supported” now.
What the customer gets is the following:
Chassis id: 0024.81f7.b78b
Port id: X5
Local Port id: Eth1/9
Port Description: not advertised
System Name: VcD_da6e43ddec97
System Description: HP VC FlexFabric 10Gb/24-Port Module 3.30 2011-08-16T03:34:59Z
But I could not find a place to configure a value for the System Name (VcD_da6e43ddec97).
**********************
Info from Ramu:
*******************
VC supports LLDP. Please refer page # 36 in below VC for Cisco administrator link.
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01386629/c01386629.pdf
***************
I would suggest the customer check the VC version as well. LLDP has been supported for quite some time. Any other suggestions?

Re: LLDP to get prrper info from Virtual Connect module ?
currenly that "VcD..." string is internal VC domain name and users don't have control to change it. The upcoming feature release 3.70 should be able to change this system name.
