New! HP announced Virtual Connect Flex-10 and enhanced Virtual Connect Fibre Channel

Today HP announced a new breakthrough technology extending the benfits of virtualization to server LAN and SAN networking. HP’s new Virtual Connect Flex-10 Ethernet module is the industry’s first interconnect technology that can allocate the bandwidth of a 10Gb Ethernet network port across four network interface card (NIC) connections. This increase in bandwidth flexibility eliminates the need for additional NICs, switches and cables. As a result, customers deploying virtual machines and using Virtual Connect Flex-10 can realize savings of up to 55 to 66 percent in network hardware costs. Virtual Connect Flex-10 also lets you adjust the bandwdth of each FlexNIC between 100 Mbs to 10 Gbs in 100 Mbs increments. So whenever you need more than 2 NICs per server (and hypervisor vendors usually recommend around 6 NICs per server), Virtual Connect Flex-10 is much cheaper. We also introduced a new Virtual Connect Fibre Channel module with server side NPIV. This new module supports up to 128 World Wide Names per server. You get all the info you want and/or need at these websites: http://www.hp.com/go/bladesystem/virtualconnect http://www.hp.com/go/bladesystem/news These sites have product info, flash demo, partner supporting quotes and press release, and a bunch of other things. We also are working on a new TCO white paper for VC Flex-10 and how it saves you time, energy, and most importantly money.
