Stacking cable for VC-Ent module and Flex-Fabric module

Hi everyone,

I have two VC-Ent modules and configured domain on my enclosure (bay 1,2) and two pass-thru modules for SAN.

I want to replace pass-thru modules with Flex-Fabric 24 port modules in bay 5,6.

Do I need to stacking cable between Flex-Fabric modules and Flex-10 modules?

Yes and FlexFabric will not work with FC HBAs so you need FlexFabric Mezz cards too.

There is a dedicated VC FC module that comes in 20 or 24 port 8Gb. Thats an easy swap from your Pass Thru modules you have today.

Re: Stacking cable for VC-Ent module and Flex-Fabric module

Anytime you have 2 layers of Virtual Connect Ethernet modules, you need to stack them.

The 1/10 and Flex-10 modules do just Ethernet.
The FlexFabric does Ethernet AND Fibre Channel

So if you use FlexFabric as you originally mentioned, YES, you need to stack.
If you use the 20/24 port VC FC Switch, those are only Fibre Channel so there is no stacking required (or allowed)
