Re: Hewlett Packard Enterprise kicks off our first global "Spirit Week" with HPE Gives Day

"The betterment of society is not a job to be left to a few.  It is a responsibility to be shared by all."  - David Packard

Working for HPE provides each of us an opportunity to make our world a better place.  Through the HPE Gives program employees volunteer their time, contribute to their favorite charities and create innovative charities to make this world a better place.

Each employee receives 60 hours of paid time a year to volunteer AND can earn charitable rewards for their volunteer time to donate to an eligible charity.  Quarterly, three employee nominated charities receive the HPE Gives Award, a grant of up to US $2,500.  Additionally, HPE Foundation Community Impact Grant program  enables employees to nominate charities for cash grants throughout the year.

HPE Matter to a Million program helps small business owners turn their dreams into a reality.  Semi-annually our employees are provided grants of $25 to invest in Kiva entrepreneurs and help their dreams become a reality.

Robust Disaster relief programs and partnerships allowed us to step in to help our employees and communities impacted by the recent disasters. Our partnership with the American Red Cross (ARC) Disaster Responder Program allowed us respond and provide aid to those impacted by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria.  HPE India partnered with HelpAge India and Save the Children India in response to the South Asia floods.  In Mexico, we have provided matching funds to the Mexican Red Cross and UNICEF  in response to the Mexico earthquakes.  As we look to the future, we have provided a grant to NetHope, a pilot project utilizing data to improve disaster preparedness.

Why socks?  Socks are versatile.  They provide warmth and protection for feet.  Can be worn as mittens or gloves.  Tied together create a scarf, head or ear covering.  Can be used to create bandages for wounds or sprains.  Can function as a purse or carryall.  And can provide endless hours of entertainment when transformed into sock puppets, both as a craft as well as providing puppet shows at hospitals and orphanages.

HPE is holding Soc drives and events at campuses across the globe.  Examples include integrating a sock drive, puppet craft activity and puppet show into our Houston Take Our Children To Work Day as well as a Soc drives as part of HPE Gives day this past Monday.   Learn more about Soc at sockrelief.com

So proud to work for a company who makes a difference not just through our technology but through innovative programs which allow our employees to make an impact in the world.

Thanks for sharing Susan. We had a full week of fantastic events to celebrate HPE Spirit week in the Leixlip site in Dublin, Ireland. We uncovered some great people with unique talents that we hope to have come and host additional events we plan for FY18.  The more we can share and celebrate what is good about our company the better we can navigate the great changes we are going through as a company too.
