5510 / 5130 : all Mitel IP phones fall at the same time and regularly.
Hi,
In my network of 5130 switches connected to 3 HP 5510 in IRF, all Mitel IP phones fall at the same time and regularly.
Are there any known issues with the 5130 or 5510 switches ?
Need help please.
Regards

Re: 5510 / 5130 : all Mitel IP phones fall at the same time and regularly.
Your Mitel phones could be rebooting because either,
1/ Your switches are interrupting power
or
2/ They are losing their connection to the voice controller and trying to fail-over to the secondary (do you have one)?
It would be very weird for all your switches to be interrupting PoE at the same time, so I would personally be looking at your controller availability, not the switches. - unless you have a badly configured network with frequent broadcast storms - you have STP configured, right? Are you getting any congestion on your switchports?
The phones send keep-alives to the controller every few seconds (or maybe the controller sends them to the phones) and if they get no response to 3 (or 5) of them in a row, (also if a certain number of keep-alives drop over a longer period) then the phone will reset itself.
There is a form on the controller called something like 'controller registry'. It can be worth adjusting these values to make the phones less sensitive, for example in a link failure scenario where you are relying on BGP to restore connectivity, the default Mitel values are not quite enough for the phones to ride-out the outage during fail-over and need to be extended.

Hi Vince-Whirlwind,
Thank you very much for responding.
In fact I imagined the 2 cases you mention.
Regarding the power of the switches, I check it with the following commands, I thought that power was not in question.
<VCN-SW-01>display poe device slot 1
Slot 1:
PSE ID Slot No. SSlot No. PortNum MaxPower(W) State Model
4 1 0 48 370.0 On LSP7POEB
<VCN-SW-01>display poe device slot 2
Slot 2:

Regarding the loss of connection with the IPBX, I put in place a script that ping continues this latter. And no packet loss is recorded to the IPBX every time all the phones fall.
Help please.

Re: 5510 / 5130 : all Mitel IP phones fall at the same time and regularly.
Ferdo,
It would be helpful to know what version of Comware code you have runniong on both switches. Also, how many phones are connected to the switches? What model phones are they?
Is there anything going on on your network at the time all of the phones fail? A bunch of system backups or other large file transfers perhaps? It is unusual to have all of them fail at the same time.
Thanks!
David

Re: 5510 / 5130 : all Mitel IP phones fall at the same time and regularly.
Hi David,
Thank you for your answer.
My network core consists of a stack of 3 HP 5510 and 5130 distribution switches that are connected to it by fiber. IP phones are Mitel 5312 models. There are 210 users on my network. Every 10 days on average, all phones reboot almost at the same time, and no longer work. The only solution for them to work again, is to restart the switches. There is no particular event that causes this problem, nor backup or transfer of large files. As attachments the configuration files of the core network and one of the distribution switch.
Is there anything wrong in this configuration, which can explain this problem ?
Thank you for your help.
