DL185G5 P400 MAX LOGICAL DRIVE SIZE !?

Hi,

We have a DL185G5 on which we need to install WIN2008 Server STd x64.
I have already read that the p400 supports maximum logical volumes of 2TB.
But isn't there any workaround to overcome this ?
Any suggestions ? Maybe another SA controller ?

DL185G5 - P400 - WIN2008 Server STd x64
Log drivesize : 2,7TB RAID6
Phys drivesize : 8x 500GB

Regards,

YVG

Smart Array P400 Quickspecs show that it supports logical drives of more than 2 TB:

http://h18006.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/12400_na/12400_na.html

Support for greater than 2TB in a single logical drive.

As explained here:

Ok├Г┬й, but why doesn't the instal continue ?
If I reduce the logical drivesize below 2TB it will.

I have installed the latest firmware .

Now you're talking about a different thing. One thing is being able to create a LUN larger than 2 TB, another thing is that you can install your operating system on it.

To be able to boot from a partition in a disk bigger than 2 TB you need a server with EFI, which is not the case with a Proliant.

You need to create two logical units on the Smart Array, one for the OS and other bigger for data.
