where can I find instructions on upgrading firmware on a SAN 1500MSA CS Server? A link to instruction or a place where I can get them will be much appreciated.

If you have a windows host which can see the MSA 1500 connected to the MSA, then the best way would be to download the MSA Flash firmware utility from the following link:-

Please ensure that you select the correct firmware for the controller. Either Active/Active or Active/Passive.

Using this you can also flash the firmware of the Disk enclosures (MSA 20's) connected to the 1500 controller shelf.
