Is VSS and VDS needed? P2000 & Dl360 -general advice on VSS and VDS
I really would appretiate some help on this.
One P2000 G3 SAS and one Dl185. The server is simply a file server.
It is at 60% capacity.
Is there any need for me to install VSS and VDS hardware providers?
In terms of VDS I am happy to manage from the p2000 web interface.
VSS looked good, but it seems I need snapshots, but given we are at 60% I do not have the space to create a "mirror" of the existing data.
Why do people use VSS?
My backup sw (backup exec 2010) backs up all open files, I am not understanding why it is needed.
thanks for reading. Any help welcome.
