Mixing 10K and 15K drives

Hi,

I have an "HP ProLiant ML350 G4 Hot
Plug SCSI - Tower Server". Of 6 drive bays, 4 are used, in a RAID5. The 4 drives are "HP 72GB U320 15K Universal HDD 286778-B22".

I'd like to add 2 more drives and configure a separate RAID1 with 300GB drives, but it looks like the only ones available for this system are "HP 300GB U320 10K Universal HDD 350964-B22" -- notice that these are 10K while my 72GB drives are 15K.

My question is, will this work?

I know that was a mouthfull, thanks in advance for your response!!

...one last thing to add: This server uses a Smart Array 641 RAID Controller.

Thanks!

hi Andrew

yes that will work, you can mix HDDs in the same controller, something else you will create another RAID level for those HDDs so dont worry about the 15k and 10k they can be mixed
