Raid 5

My Intel motherboard just quit- DX975xbx. I had a Raid 5 array with 4 drives.
I need some data from these drives ASAP.
Can I purchase a Raid Card with Raid 5 compatibility put it in another computer and read the data off the drives?

Re: Raid 5

Most raid controllers store their configuration on the disks. So I think replacing the MB (raid controller) should work. Just make sure you hook up the disks in the way. But what make of raid controller is on the MB?

Re: Raid 5

It is true that raid controllers store their configuration on the disk. However there is no standard on how the configuration is stored so there is NO guarrantee that another controller will understand the raid configuration of the old controller.
Within a vendor's product line of raid controlers, there is usually compatibility of the raid configuration across different models.
What raid controller was used (embedded) in the intel motherboard?
