Hmm, I understand this a bit more clearly.

The array can span channels 1+2.
The array can span channels 3+4.

Even at the same time.

Any other combination like 1+3 or something is not possible.

Right, the SA6404 is two independent SmartArray controllers sharing one PCI slot.
