Installing a slave HD in old brio
i've torn apart an old pc taken out 32mb ram and a cd drive and put it into my hp brio. i would also like to cram another 4 gb hard drive in to make a total of (a mere) 8gb... i've taken a peek inside my pc and can't seem to find anywhere for it to go. is it possible to put another hard drive in brio ba or not?

Re: Installing a slave HD in old brio
all the ide controllers support two hdd per channel, Brio ide controllers also.
Usualy you have two connectors out of the motherboad maked ide0 and ide1, these connectors are for ide devices (hdd and CDRom)
Now what you need is to find the right data cable (usualy one hdd is connected to the first controller and the cd-rom connected to the second one)
every ide device have need to be set or Master or Slave, aan automatic selection is provvided by Cable select option
Hp have autodetecting cable, so your ide devices have to be put in "Cable Select" mode, you will found on the rear of the hdd the jumper that let you select this mode.
if everything is well connected, you will find in the Bios of the Pc, the banner of the new hdd with his caracteristics
