loadballaning on 5158 storage host adapter in SAN

we have got a Storagetek San with 2 brocade switches and 2 fc adapters in each node.

I want to know if there is a possibility to balance the load on these two cards under HP-ux 11i

Actually, there is, soft of.

11i comes with a basic version of Veritas Volume Manager. If you upgrade to the full version, you get DMP (Dynamic MultiPathing), which will load balance the I/O over all available paths.

Good luck
No matter where you go, there you are.

Hi, you can do that using software, vicent explained how to do that using DMP.
If you haven't this soft and you don't want to expend more money you can do a manual balancing. You can make two groups of LUN's half and half, better if you see at load of each one and distribute disk with high load betwen two group. Then, with vgextend and vgreduce, you can do one HBA to be primary path for one group and second HBA for the another one. Look at brocade the load for both HBA ports this must be near equal, if not, try to do a new distribution of groups.
This is not exactly load balancing, is better do that vicent says, but is free.

Sorry for my poor english !
