MSA1000 to MSA1500
This is my first post in this forum.
I'm considering buying my first SAN MSA1000 or MSA1500. I recognize with the MSA1500 I have the abilitiy to add the MSA20 for SATA.
I can get for a very low price used 2x MSA1000 (one with 2 controller, one with 1 controller) (6 years old) from my daughter company.
Questions:
1. I recognize now G2 is on the market, what is the difference between G1, which is probably the used ones
2. I think, of buying a MSA1000 Starter KIT and used the used materials for redundancy HA Kit. Will this be possible? Controller and Switch?
3. Is it possible to buy a MSA1500 and use materials from MSA1000. Controller and Switch?
Thank you
Edy

Re: MSA1000 to MSA1500
It did help a bit, but the Q&A of HP is not too concrete to my queries.
I understand I can use the controllers of a MSA1000 in a MSA1500.
Actually I want to know if there is any hardware difference between G1 and G2.
Thank you

Re: MSA1000 to MSA1500
I believe you are referring to the SMB kit.
From the MSA point of view, there isn't any difference. The rest of the SAN components changed from 2G to 4G. The MSA is still operates at 2G. There may have been a software change in the Qlogic SAN Surfer Express.

Re: MSA1000 to MSA1500
I don`t think so there is a G1 or G2 in MSA1000/1500 controller, MSA500 has got G1 and G2 series.

Re: MSA1000 to MSA1500
even this is my first replay in this forum.
1.)A new seies called G2 is available but there is no diffrence in the contoller but u will find new PCI-E HBA will be their in the KIT
2) u will be able to add the HA kit any time.
3) no only the HDD can be used with MSA1500.
i hope u got the clarity on ur quiers
