Hp MediaSmart EX490 bios corruption fix?

Today I have purchased a MediaSmart at a car boot sale for £10. It did not have any ram or cpu. I put 2 gb of ram and also put in a new cpu (core 2 duo) . I tried recovering it once but I can't even go to that purple light thing. When I once pressed the mode button it flashed 2 times blue then one time red. I looked on ebay and they are quite expensive for me. Please help me fix it.
