How do I post? (categories vs boards)

I know this is in the wrong place but can somebody tell me how to start a new post on the discussion forum I can't new a New Topic button.
I need to ask a question about an error message I keep getting on websites. Where would I postg that question and how do I do it please.

P.S. This post and replies have been splitted off from other thread in Data Protector Support and News Forum to community feedback & suggestion. - HP Forum Moderator

Look to the tag cloud:

http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/tag/New%20topic/tg-p/category-id/welcome_to_the_community

Have you read the FAQ?

http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/help/faqpage/faq-category-id/posting#posting

For Data Protector, you have to be on a board:

This EBC forum is only for questions on specific categories and not general HP.COM websites.

Look for a feedback link on the page or a "Contact HP" link at the bottom.

I'm having a hard time figuring this out as well.  There are no "New Topic" buttons anywhere on the page of the forum where I want to post (Networking/Network Management).  I can see one on the page for this forum, but not for any of the topic forums.

So I figured put what was going on. When you browse to a "topic" and see posts, actually it is just posts from the underlying forums.  In the case of "Network Management" this list is two tiny links to TLAs for HP's network management platform, which don't look like much.  You have to enter a particular forum before you see the buttons with which to post a topic.  The problem is really that the forum index itself looks like a forum.  Really they should just get rid of the sample posts on that page so it is clear that the only thing you are supposed to do from that page is choose a forum.

This is a category, not a topic.  Categories contain sub-categories and boards.  Boards contain topics.  And topics contain posts.

These are boards.

These are useful because they show the latest new and other type of topics.  But perhaps the title shouldn't say "Discussion Boards" because those were just above.
